FROM Daniel Y Dayee, Mim, Goaso
EDUCATION AND political authorities in Ahafo region say they have put in place measures to minimise examination malpractice during this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which comes off tomorrow Wednesday 11th June 2025 and ends on 18th June 2025.
The authorities say this has become necessary to curb the ugly image of the Ahafo region being of the three regions in the country having curved a name for being notorious in examination malpractices.
The Ahafo Regional Director of education, Mr. Samuel Jatong Laar emphasised this yesterday during an intervention by the Member of Parliament for Asunafo North to distribute mathematical set free of charge to all 2025 BECE candidstes in his constituency made up of three thousand five hundred (3,426) candidates.
According to him, all is set for tomorrow’s BECE in the region because they have secured all examination centers, invited security – police personnel to protect the centers.
‘Invigilators and supervisors who are all themselves teachers are ready and cautioned follow laid down rules and regulations in writing the examination He said they were ready to take care of the examination’.
He warned all those who have nothing to do with the examination never to go near the examination centers else will have themselves to blame
Speaking to the paper in the region at Mim,. he urged the student to feel at home and write the exame without fear but never attempt to engage in any malpractice by bringing foreign materials in the exam hall and jeopardize their bright future
The MP for the area, Haruna Mohammed affectionately called BA(in all white) assisted by the Municipal Chief Executive of Asunafo North, Joseph Akparibo distributed the Mathematical sets to the candidates both in public and private schools in all twelfth circuits in the municipality.
Some of the beneficiary schools including Goaso Presby JHS, Goaso Assembly of God JHS, Goaso Methodist JHS, Mim SDA JHS, Agyei One Girls School, Akrodie Methodist JHS, Fawohoyeden JHS and others.
The MP was happy he was able to do the distribution saying it is the first of its kind in the municipality and shall continue to do it every year.
He said the gesture is to take financial burden out of parents and ensure human resource development in the constituency because it is not always the case that politicians should concentrate on road, water and other infrastructure.
He advised the candidates to desist from exam malpractice but work hard to come out with flying colors. He promised more students centered policies and programmes to support them at the next stage of their education journey if they excel in this first external examination they are to embark on.
The MCE for Goaso Joseph Akparibo on his part advised the students to be patient and write the exam since what their teachers taught them is what is going to come.
He warned teachers who will attempt to lure candidates into malpractice to have themselves blame when caught because their certificates shall be confiscated
The students thanked the MP and said they were ready for tomorrow’s papers.
