The Ghana Police Service conducted a joint operation on June 19, 2025, in the Essuminya and Apraprama Forest Reserves in the Ashanti Region. The operation, involving personnel from the National Police Headquarters and the Manso Adubia District, aimed to address reported mining activities in the area.
During the operation, 16 individuals were taken into custody for questioning. The individuals include:

5. Collins Asare, 35
6. Joshua Ofori, 25
7. Emmanuel Akwesi, 42
8. Augustine Mensah, 38
9. Stephen Amoako, 25
10. Vincent Ofori, 30
11. Andrews Oppong, 31
12. Nyaba Atonkoni, 31
13. Stephen Kwabena Owusu, 41
14. George Badji, 28
15. Dorgumu Fredrick, 24
16. Cheke Chen, 35, a foreign national
Exhibits retrieved from the site include:
– 2 pump-action guns
– Pumping machines
– 4 excavator machine monitors
– 8 live BB cartridges
The individuals are being held by the police for further investigation.
