New political Party formed in Ghana: Unity Party Slams NPP’s Amnesty Offer

The newly formed Unity Party has rejected the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) recent amnesty offer, with its National Chairman, Abubakar Boniface Siddique, stating that they will not be returning to the party.

“We were sacked from the NPP, but now they want to grant us amnesty? We will not go back,” Siddique said emphatically.

The NPP recently granted amnesty to members who had been suspended or had disciplinary cases pending, including Siddique and other prominent figures like Alan Kyeremanteng, and Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe.

Siddique, a former NPP National Executive member and Minister of State at the Office of the Vice President, was among those who broke away from the party to form the Movement for Change (M4C) to contest the 2024 presidential election.

The Unity Party’s decision to reject the amnesty offer marks a significant development in Ghana’s political landscape, highlighting the growing rift between the NPP and its former members.
