A heated controversy has erupted within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as Dr. Richard Anane, a former Minister of Health, has condemned the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, for his disrespectful behavior towards former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
According to reports, President Kufuor had expressed concerns about the party’s top-down approach, suggesting that it was detrimental to the party’s health. He also recommended that the party’s past chairmen be brought on board to manage the party until the next election, citing the party’s current state of disarray. Abronye responded by questioning Kufuor’s authority to make such comments, and in a shocking display of disrespect, disrespected the former president at a meeting.
Dr. Anane lamented that the NPP has sunk so low that Abronye can confront a revered figure like J.A. Kufuor. “The level of disrespect shown by Abronye towards President Kufuor is appalling,” Dr. Anane said. “It’s clear that the party has lost its way and its sense of decorum.”
The meeting where Abronye’s outburst occurred was reportedly attended by top party executives, who were said to be shocked and disappointed by Abronye’s behavior. The members in attendance quickly reprimanded Abronye, hooting him down for his rudeness towards the respected elder statesman.
This latest controversy has sparked a heated debate within the NPP, with many calling for Abronye to apologize for his actions. The incident has also raised questions about the party’s internal dynamics and its ability to present a united front ahead of future elections.
