New details have emerged in the case of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah’s murder, with Bright Aweh, the prime suspect, accused of masterminding the gruesome killing. Aweh allegedly lured Amoah to his residence on July 3, 2025, under the guise of repaying a debt of GH¢200,000.
The Alleged Plot
According to investigations, Aweh sent WhatsApp images to Amoah showing large bundles of cash, claiming to have the money to repay the debt. Upon Amoah’s arrival, Aweh handed him GH¢500,000 in cash, supposedly for debt repayment and safekeeping. However, investigators suspect foul play due to inconsistencies in Aweh’s story and unclear sources of the funds.
Evidence Uncovered
A search of Aweh’s residence revealed:
– Bloodstains: Human blood was found in Aweh’s living room and on a fufu pestle hidden in bushes near his home.
– Attempted Cleanup: Signs of an attempted cleanup and freshly sprayed walls were discovered, suggesting Aweh tried to conceal evidence.
– Vehicle Inspection: Aweh’s impounded vehicle contained bloodstains, further implicating him in the crime.
Investigation and Court Proceedings
Aweh was arrested on July 6, 2025, and has been remanded into police custody. The case has been adjourned to allow for further investigations. Amoah’s family has demanded justice, with his grandmother calling for Aweh to face the same fate as her grandson.
The Ghana Police Service continues to investigate the murder, appealing for public assistance in uncovering any additional information that may aid in the case.
