Ghana Police Service Announces Major Breakthrough in Robbery Investigations

The Ghana Police Service has announced a significant breakthrough in its investigations into a series of robberies targeting financial institutions, particularly rural banks, across several regions in the country. According to a statement released by the police, a gang behind the robberies has been dismantled, and ten suspects have been arrested.

Arrests and Recoveries
The suspects arrested include:
– Akwesi Agyei @ Cobra
– Ibrahim Alhassan
– Samuel Appiah @Akwesi Mugu
– Francis Acquah @ Preman
– David Obuobi @Wasty
– Martin Akansina @ One Billion
– Nana Yaw Frimpong @ Mystical
– Kojo Atingawo @ Borga
– Samuel Akwasi Gyan
– Stephen Sey

During the operation, three suspects were killed in an exchange of gunfire with the police. The police also recovered 14 weapons, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, pistols, ammunition, vehicles, motorbikes, and mobile phones.

Police Commendation and Promotions
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, commended all police officers and members of the public whose support and credible information contributed to the success of the operation. The IGP also promoted 12 officers for their roles in the operation, with ranks ranging from Constable to Chief Inspector.

Ongoing Investigation
The police are currently conducting a manhunt for other suspects still at large, including Kwabena Owusu Ansah and Albert. The Ghana Police Service assures the public of its commitment to pursue all remaining suspects and to sustain efforts to protect life and property across the country.
