#Ghana Police Service Cracks Down on Illegal Mining, Arrests 49

The Ghana Police Service has launched a series of intelligence-led operations targeting illegal mining activities across the country. As a result, 49 individuals have been arrested in various locations, including Huniso, Wassa-Dadieso, Wassa-Gyapa, Akrokerri, Dunkwa-On-Offin, Diaso, and Awin River at Pankese and Akyem Akwadum.
The operations yielded significant exhibits, including:
– 135 disabled chanfan machines
– 23 water pumping machines
– 4 excavator batteries
– 1 motorbike
– 1 excavator monitor
– 2 excavator pedals
– 7 excavator control boards
– 1 gold detecting device
– 4 excavators
– 8 pumping machines
– 1 cylinder machine
All suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. The Ghana Police Service continues to intensify its efforts to combat illegal mining activities nationwide.
