The High Court has rejected Charles Bissue’s application for the temporary release of his passport to travel to the UK and US. The court cited weak justification for the request, noting that the flight ticket was purchased after the application was filed and the school admission letter was only provisional.
According to the court, these factors suggested that there was no genuine intention behind the travel request. Prosecutors argued that Bissue’s application lacked merit, and the court agreed.
The case has been adjourned to May 29, 2025. Bissue’s legal team had sought to have his passport released to allow him to travel abroad, but the court’s decision means he will not be able to do so for now.
The outcome of this case will be closely watched, and the court’s decision highlights the importance of providing strong justification for such applications. Alexander Afriyie
