The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 30 officers to their next ranks in recognition of their outstanding service. The promotions are a result of the officers’ involvement in two successful operations: the retrieval of 2,600 AK 47 ammunition at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier in the Ashanti Region and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate at Antoakrom-Manso Nkwanta during the Christmas season.
The promoted officers demonstrated professionalism, vigilance, and commitment to duty, according to the Police Administration. Some of the officers promoted include C/Inspr Tibim Acheampong Solomon, Inspr Sarfo Adu Daniel, and several others who were part of the Kantanso Asankare operation.
During the operation, the officers conducted a thorough search of a bus and uncovered concealed containers holding the ammunition, as well as a bag containing bulletproof plates, a helmet, and boots. Twenty other personnel from the Intelligence department were also promoted for their role in related operations that resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, disruption of armed robbery activities, and prevention of planned attacks on commuters.
The IGP commended the officers for their courage and alertness, noting that their actions prevented dangerous weapons from falling into criminal hands. He encouraged all personnel to maintain high standards of professionalism, assuring that the Police Administration will acknowledge and reward hard work.
