Kumasi High Court Sentences Police Inspector to Life Imprisonment for Murdering Girlfriend

The Kumasi High Court has sentenced Inspector Ahmed Twumasi to life imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maa Adwoa. The incident occurred on April 20, 2023, at Adum, Kumasi, where Twumasi allegedly shot and killed Dapaah, a 26-year-old mother of one.

According to court documents, Twumasi, who was attached to the Ashanti Regional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, was accused of shooting Dapaah six times, resulting in her unnatural death. The autopsy report revealed that the deceased suffered hemorrhagic shock, leading to her death.

Twumasi claimed innocence, stating that he had no romantic relationship with Dapaah and was not involved in her death. However, the prosecution presented evidence that contradicted his claims, and the court found him guilty of murder.

The court’s decision brings closure to the family and friends of the deceased, who had been seeking justice for Dapaah’s untimely death. The case has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability within the Ghana Police Service.
