Kwahu Palace Raided: Queenmother Abducted, Vehicle Stolen

In a shocking early morning attack, gunmen disguised as police officers and claiming to be National Security operatives stormed the Kwahu Paramount Chief’s Palace in Abene, Eastern Region, at 4:00 a.m. today. The assailants abducted the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, and seized the Kwahuhene’s official Toyota Land Cruiser, which tracking data indicates is headed toward Accra.

Residents reported hearing gunshots inside the palace, sparking fear and panic in the community. The Nkawkaw and Kwahu Divisional Police Commands have distanced themselves from the operation, stating they had no prior knowledge of the raid. Authorities have not released an official statement, but investigations are underway.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though tensions surrounding the Kwahu Chieftaincy disputes are believed to be a factor. The incident has raised concerns about security and the safety of traditional leaders.
