The La State Council has announced a ban on noisemaking in the La Traditional Area from Monday, August 11, 2025, to Friday, September 5, 2025, at 6:00 pm. This directive is in respect of the one-week funeral celebration of the late highlife music icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
According to a statement signed by Jeffrey Tetteh, Assistant Secretary of the La Homowo Planning Council, the ban is aimed at maintaining the cultural and spiritual order during the sacred period of Niimei. The council has cautioned all persons, families, groups, and organizers against any attempt to hold or facilitate funeral-related events within the La Traditional Area during the ban.
The La State Council has emphasized that any individual or group that disregards this directive will face the full weight of customary and lawful sanctions. The council has assured the family of the late Daddy Lumba of its support at the appropriate time when the ban has been duly lifted.
The ban on noisemaking is part of the council’s efforts to protect, uphold, and preserve the rich cultural heritage and sacred traditions handed down by their forebears. The La State Council has urged the public to respect the ban and avoid any activities that may contravene the cultural and spiritual order during this period.
