A 30-year-old laborer, Fuseini Mohammed, has been remanded into police custody by the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing a police vehicle. Mohammed, who is currently standing trial for the theft of the Toyota Hilux vehicle valued at GH₵ 300,000, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.
Prosecution’s Case
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Kofi Boakye, revealed that on August 28, 2024, the police vehicle was left at the Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, with the engine running while the driver briefly stepped away. Upon returning, the driver discovered that the vehicle had been stolen. An investigation led to Mohammed’s arrest on August 30, 2024.
Court Proceedings
The court, presided over by His Honor Samson A. G. Senaya, denied Mohammed’s bail application due to the seriousness of the offense and the risk of interference with investigations. Mohammed is to be remanded until September 11, 2024, when the court will determine his bail application.
