MTN Ghana has announced a remarkable financial performance for the first half of 2025, with a profit after tax of GH₵3.6 billion. This impressive feat represents a 55.8% surge in profit, driven by robust growth across its data, mobile money, and voice services.
The telecommunications giant’s service revenue climbed 40% to GH₵11.3 billion during the period, according to its unaudited half-year financial results. Key drivers of growth included:
– Data Revenue: A 50.8% jump to GH₵6.0 billion, fueled by increasing demand for data services and higher smartphone penetration.
– Mobile Money Revenue: A 46.4% growth to GH₵2.8 billion, driven by rising transaction volumes and expansion of digital financial services.
– Voice Revenue: A 12.6% increase to GH₵2.0 billion, despite a shift towards data-based calling services.
The company’s strong performance was supported by strategic investments in network expansion and service innovation. MTN Ghana invested GH₵2.7 billion in network upgrades during the period, expanding its 4G coverage to 99.3% of the population.
Looking Ahead
MTN Ghana’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Blewett, attributed the stellar performance to “strong commercial momentum and execution.” He credited employees for their dedication, stating, “These results would not be possible without the unwavering dedication and hard work of our MTN Ghana employees.”
The company has declared an interim dividend of GH₵0.08 per share, up from GH₵0.065 in the same period last year. The dividend will be paid on September 11, 2025, to shareholders on the register as of August 22, 2025.
