MultiChoice Ghana Responds to Minister’s Concerns Over DStv Pricing

In a recent media statement, MultiChoice Ghana Limited addressed concerns raised by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, regarding DStv pricing in Ghana. The statement dated August 3, 2025, and signed by Managing Director Alex Okyere, expressed regret over the Minister’s stance on the issue.

According to the statement, MultiChoice Ghana values its subscribers and strives to maintain affordable subscription fees despite the challenging economic environment. The company emphasized its commitment to constructive engagement with the Minister and the National Communications Authority (NCA) to resolve the matter.

The controversy surrounding DStv pricing in Ghana has been ongoing, with the Minister criticizing the company for charging Ghanaians significantly more than customers in other African countries, including Nigeria, Angola, and South Africa. The Minister had issued a directive to the NCA to suspend DStv’s broadcasting license if the company failed to reduce its subscription prices by August 7, 2025.

MultiChoice Ghana offers six DStv packages in Ghana, with prices ranging from GH₵ 45 for the Padi package to GH₵ 680 for the Premium package. Here’s a breakdown of the current packages and prices:
– Padi: GH₵ 45 per month, with over 40 channels
– Access: GH₵ 80 per month, with over 75 channels
– Family: GH₵ 150 per month, with over 95 channels
– Compact: GH₵ 300 per month, with over 120 channels
– Compact Plus: GH₵ 450 per month, with over 135 channels
– Premium: GH₵ 680 per month, with over 150 channels
