NAIMOS Task Force Cracks Down on Illegal Mining in Atwima Mponua Forest Reserve

The National Illegal Mining Operations Task Force (NAIMOS) of Ghana has arrested a 9-member gang involved in illegal mining activities in the Anhwiafutu Forest Belt within the Atwima Mponua Forest Reserve. The suspects were apprehended during a special operation last week and have been handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

Details of the Arrests
The suspects are currently being held at two different police stations in Accra:
– 5 suspects are being detained at the Kotobabi Police Station
– 4 suspects are being held at the Cantonments Police Station

The NAIMOS Task Force has assured the public that it will continue to intensify its efforts to combat galamsey activities. The crackdown is part of the government’s efforts to protect the country’s natural resources and environment.
