#National Service PIN Code Issue Affects 44 Institutions in Ghana

The National Service Authority (NSA) has revealed that 3,597 students from 22 tertiary institutions in Ghana will not receive their National Service PIN codes for the 2025/2026 service year due to accreditation issues. According to the Acting Director-General, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, the institutions in question are either entirely unaccredited or unrecognized by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
Reasons Behind the Issue
The NSA explained that out of 135,990 final-year Ghanaian students submitted for national service, only 132,393 students from 100 institutions had their details processed and PIN codes issued. The institutions that have not received PIN codes are either:
– *Unaccredited Institutions*: 22 institutions are entirely unaccredited or unrecognized by GTEC, resulting in 3,597 students being disqualified from receiving PIN codes.
– Institutions with Expired Accreditation: Another 22 institutions have accreditation that expired as of the time of submission, and the NSA has urged these institutions to regularize their status with GTEC within the next 30 days.
Impact on Students
The lack of PIN codes means that students from these institutions will not be able to register for national service, potentially delaying their deployment. The NSA has assured that once the institutions resolve their accreditation issues, their graduates can be mobilized for service.
Call to Action
The NSA has urged prospective service personnel to complete their registration via the SmartHub portal by July 1, 2025. Individuals with unresolved PIN issues have been directed to reach out through official support channels. Institutions with expired accreditation are expected to regularize their status with GTEC within 30 days to avoid deployment challenges.
