Tema Development Company (TDC) Limited has accused a New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive of selling a public plot of land to his wife for a mere GH¢2,000. The TDC Managing Director, Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, revealed this at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
According to Mr. Nunekpeku, the NPP Tema Central Constituency Secretary, who previously served as a protocol officer under a former TDC Managing Director, was found to have illegally sold a state-owned plot in Tema Community 5 to his wife. The land, originally earmarked for a public toilet facility, has since been repossessed and reassigned for its intended purpose.
“We terminated the contract, and the land is now for the state to use as a public toilet,” Mr. Nunekpeku stated, emphasizing that the TDC is committed to recovering state lands that were unlawfully acquired. He assured that the TDC is working to ensure that such irregularities are addressed and that state lands are utilized for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
This development is part of the TDC’s ongoing efforts to reclaim illegally acquired lands and ensure that state properties are used for their intended purposes. The TDC has been working to address concerns raised by various groups, including the Peaceful Settlers’ Association, regarding land ownership and usage in the Tema area.
