In a significant boost to legal education in Ghana, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has generously donated land for the establishment of the Ghana School of Law Kumasi Campus. The official handing over ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11 am at the site for the proposed campus in Adum, Kumasi.
This ultramodern educational facility aims to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure for students pursuing legal studies in the Ashanti Region. The event will be graced by His Lordship Justice Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, JA, Justice of the Court of Appeal and Director of Legon Law School.
The Ghana School of Law, established in 1958, is the only institution in Ghana authorized to provide professional legal education leading to the award of the Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree. The Kumasi campus is expected to increase access to legal education in the region, promoting diversity and inclusivity in the legal profession.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s donation is a testament to his commitment to education and development in Ghana. The Asantehene’s philanthropic efforts have had a significant impact on various sectors, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
The establishment of the Kumasi campus is expected to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and provide opportunities for young Ghanaians to pursue careers in law. As the country continues to develop, initiatives like this will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Ghana’s legal profession [1].
