The Ghana Police Service has denied allegations that they raided the home of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bono East Regional Chairman, Ibrahim Baba Bukari, in Techiman. According to the police, the claim that the raid resulted in the death of one person is false.
What Actually Happened
– On Friday, August 1, 2025, at about 1:20 am, police officers from the Bono East Regional Police Command responded to a robbery incident in Techiman based on intelligence.
– During the operation, one of the suspects, Seidu Bukari, sustained a gunshot wound while attempting to escape by scaling a wall. He was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.
– Investigations revealed that Seidu Bukari was a known member of a robbery gang terrorizing Techiman and surrounding areas by stealing motorbikes for resale in Kumasi.
– The affected house belonged to Mr. Ibrahim Baba Bukari, the NPP Bono East Regional Chairman.
Investigation Update
The Inspector-General of Police has deployed a team to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter. A targeted manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang who fled the scene.
