Shatta Wale’s inability to provide documentation for the vehicle’s purchase

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has been released on bail after being interrogated by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for several hours. The interrogation was in connection with an ongoing investigation into a 2019 Lamborghini Urus vehicle, which is believed to be linked to a multi-million-dollar crime.

Background of the Investigation
The investigation began after requests from the FBI and the US Justice Department for EOCO to track the vehicle and conduct local investigations into possible co-conspirators in Ghana. Shatta Wale was invited to assist with investigations and voluntarily presented himself at the EOCO office.

Bail Conditions
Shatta Wale was granted bail in the sum of GH₵10 million with two sureties to be justified. After the sureties are presented, EOCO will undertake a surety inspection, a standard protocol, after which Shatta Wale would be released from custody.

Investigation Update
The investigation is ongoing, with EOCO working to determine if there are any local co-conspirators involved in the crime. Shatta Wale’s inability to provide documentation for the vehicle’s purchase has raised questions, and the case is being closely monitored.

The Lamborghini Urus was seized in June 2025, and Shatta Wale’s management team has assured fans and well-wishers that they are fully cooperating with authorities to address the matter. The case has sparked widespread interest in Ghana, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability in the country’s financial transactions.
