Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey has vehemently denied all charges brought against him by the London Metropolitan Police. Partey, a former Arsenal midfielder, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, allegedly committed between 2021 and 2022, involving three separate women.
According to his defense lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, Partey has fully cooperated with the police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) throughout the three-year investigation. Wiltshire stated, “Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
Partey is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 to face the charges. His lawyer emphasized that due to ongoing legal proceedings, Partey will not be commenting further on the matter.
The charges were confirmed by the Metropolitan Police on July 4, 2025, after a thorough investigation. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy has encouraged anyone with information or affected by this case to reach out to the specialized team.
As the football world watches, Partey’s case will proceed in court, where he will have the opportunity to defend himself against the serious allegations. His recent departure from Arsenal, following the expiration of his contract on June 30, 2025, has added to the scrutiny surrounding his situation.
