Thomas Partey Granted Conditional Bail in Rape and Sexual Assault Case

Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey, a former Arsenal midfielder, has been granted conditional bail after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London. Partey, 32, faces six charges, including five counts of rape against two women and one count of sexual assault against a third woman, allegedly committed between 2021 and 2022.

The court granted Partey bail with conditions that he:
– Cannot Contact the Victims: Partey is not allowed to contact any of the three women involved in the case.
– Notify Police of Address Changes: He must inform the police of any permanent changes of address.
– Notify Police of International Travel: Partey must also notify the police of any international travel plans.

Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, stated that her client “denies all the charges against him” and welcomes the opportunity to clear his name. The midfielder is expected to join Spanish club Villarreal and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2 for a further hearing.

The Metropolitan Police started investigating Partey in February 2022 after receiving a report of rape. Partey was charged four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June.
