A daring payroll robbery was foiled in Accra thanks to a timely tip-off, with the Ghana Police Service arresting two suspects and retrieving the entire stolen amount of GH¢149,500.
According to police reports, Joseph Danso, alias Nana Yaw, and Fauzan Alhassan, both employees of a company in North Kaneshie, were apprehended on July 1, 2025, while trailing a dispatch rider transporting company funds to a bank at Abossey Okai.
The suspects, along with two accomplices, Frankie and Asante, had meticulously planned to rob the company during a scheduled cash transfer. However, their scheme was thwarted by the Special Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service, which had been monitoring their activities based on intelligence gathered from a tip-off.
Investigation and Arrests
During interrogation, the arrested suspects admitted their involvement in the plot and named their accomplices. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects, including the company driver who was supposed to be transporting the funds and is now on the run.
The Ghana Police Service commended the swift action of its officers in foiling the attempted robbery plot and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and businesses.
