#Wontumi’s Detention: Legal Saga Continues

The detention of Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, has taken another turn. According to his lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, Ken Agyapong offered to assist with bail on Friday, but the leases and assignments presented were not registered, rendering them unusable.
Appiah-Kubi clarified that it’s not the responsibility of a lawyer to find sureties for clients; rather, it’s the duty of the accused’s family and friends. The lawyer also expressed concerns about the handling of the case, stating that despite requests, he hasn’t seen the warrant supposedly shown to Wontumi.
The lawyer further revealed that when he arrived with two sureties on Friday evening, the EOCO lawyer informed him that an application had been received, and they wouldn’t proceed with the bail process.
Dr. Asah Asante, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, weighed in on the matter, emphasizing that political parties are like families and should support members in need.
The situation remains fluid, with Wontumi’s lawyer indicating that he has spoken to relatives to urge the person who filed the motion to take necessary steps. The case continues to unfold, with many watching closely.
