The Upper West Regional Police Command has announced the arrest of two key suspects linked to a series of murder cases in Wa, Ghana. The suspects were apprehended following extensive investigations into the various murder cases recorded in the area since 2021.
According to police reports, one of the arrested suspects, Sheriff Abdulai, a 30-year-old cobbler and ex-convict from Dondoli, a suburb of Wa, has confessed to killing 15 victims across Wa, Banda, and Bole. Abdulai allegedly admitted to setting fire to murder scenes and cooking and eating the internal organs of his victims.
The police recovered several items linked to the crimes, including a mobile phone, a solar-powered radio set, and a bicycle believed to belong to one of the victims, Yahaya Issah, a night security guard at Wa Dobile.
ACP Yiribaare Francis, Upper West Police Commander, announced the arrest during a media briefing, stating that the police are currently conducting further investigations to gather more evidence and prepare for prosecution.
The serial killings have gripped the Wa community, with residents expressing fear and frustration over the perceived lack of action from authorities. The case has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for justice and increased security measures to prevent future incidents.
