Ghana Gold Board Nabs Two Suspects in High-Profile Gold Smuggling Case

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has apprehended two individuals, Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, in connection with a high-profile gold smuggling investigation. The duo, who were among four suspects declared wanted, surrendered voluntarily and were subsequently arraigned before the High Court to face charges.

According to reports, Alhassan and Abubakar are accused of gold smuggling, conspiracy, and transporting gold without a license, among other offenses. Despite being granted bail by the court, the suspects remain in lawful custody pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions.

The Ghana Gold Board is still on the lookout for the other two suspects, Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, also known as Salam. A bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) per person has been placed on each of the fugitive suspects, urging the public to provide any information that could lead to their arrest.

The GoldBod has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on gold smuggling and ensuring that those involved face the full rigor of the law. This development is a significant breakthrough in the fight against gold smuggling in Ghana, and the public is encouraged to cooperate with the authorities to prevent this menace.
