THE CHURCH of Pentecost as part of its activities to demonstrate love and care for people has launched a free medical mission outreach to treat various diseases affecting people of Abesewa and its environs in the Ahafo Ano South East District in Asante region and Tano North in the Bono Region.
The free medical outreach which is expected to treat various health conditions of over thousand people shall take place concurently at the Pentecost Hospital at Abesewa and the Bechem Government Hospital at Bechem from 2nd – 18th October, 2026.
As a result, the church through its youth groups collaboration with other partners such as Image World- Ghana, Main Line Health System/Lankenau Medical Centre Pennsylevania USA has mobilized over 40 medical experts and health professionals including surgeons to screen and take care of health needs of Ghanaians at that part of the country.
The Church of Pentecost is therefore inviting all persons who suffer from one ailment to another either at Abesewa and its communities or elsewhere in the country to register with the Churh of Pentecost Hospital at Abesewaa starting from July this year to enable the facility compile list of diseases and conditions that need working on when the team arrives in October this year.
Expected conditions to treat include hernia repairs, excision biopsies and thyroidectorues. The team shall also do comprehensive medical screenings and consultations checking BP, glucose, hepatitis B, malaria, cervical screening and laboratory diagnosis.
According to leadership of the church gynecological services shall also take place at the Bechem Government Hospital.
There shall also be pharmaceutical dispensing and medical support services whiles referrals and follow up pathways for complex and chronic cases.
At the launch to sensistize the chiefs and people of Abesewa to make themselves available to benefit from the programme, the Dunyaw Nkwanta area head of the Church of Pentecost, Prophet Fred Antwi expressed gratitude to the church for choosing Abesewa among host of communities in the country to benefit from the outreach. ‘We are happy to be selected. Today is the launch and over one hundred communities here are going to benefit. I believe residents are going to be healed both physically and spiritually’.
On his part, Pastor Kofi Owusu- Boakye, PENSA International Coordinator, the coordinators of the programme maintained that the physical wellbeing of the people as well as the spiritual wellbeing are at the heart of the churche’s vision 2028 agenda.
‘It is transforming the kingdom values and principles to the doorstep of everyone. It is in the light of this vision of making God looks good that the church has decided to organise this. He urged all professionals in the church and elsewhere to use their skills for the ministry’s work which one of the members did in US and is being exemplified to mobilise medical experts at his work place to come down treat others who need their services emphasing this is ministry work
‘We are therefore mobilising 30 medical experts to come to Ghana and join others to do free medical outreach. It is also an avenue to vangelise and win souls for christ..
‘They shall treat goiter, lipoma, fibroid, waist pain that requires surgery and bone fracture emphasing all these are free. There is also going to packages for those who will be referred. He called on Ghanaians in all parts of the country including youth, parents to make available their children and caretakers to bring their aged family members to access free health care.
The Sunyani area head and an Executive Council Member, Apostle Abraham Swanzy launched the Abesewa Medical Mission Outreach and thanked God for the human resource and financial support made available to the church for the vision 2028 which is meeting the health needs of everyone.
Apostle Swanzy acknowledged struggles many people go through to access health needs due to financial difficulties so thanked God for vision 2028 to bring experts from afar for free medical mission.
Last but not the least, Apostle Dr. Ebenezer Hagan the youth director of the church emphasised health being the foundation upon which every human activities is anchored. He encouraged everyone in the Abesewa is crucial so urged communities to take advantage it and access free health care.
It must be noted that the Abesewa Free Medical Mission Outreach is the second of its kind by the church of Pentecost bringing health experts outside the country.
The first was at Kpassa in 2025 where over one thousand diseases and medical conditions were treated for free.
